I was reading an article today concerning some Lebanese people that have been locked up in Syrian prisons for more that 20 years. Every time I hear about this I get totally enfuriated. On several occasions I've watched mothers holding pictures of sons they haven't seen in decades, begging to know simply whether they're still alive or dead, and if dead, where are the bodies? is it too much to ask for, the right to grief for your own flesh and blood?!
over 600 people are forgotten in these prisons. Why isn't anyone doing anything about it. Why is the whole world silent about such crimes and injustice? if those people committed crimes let's hear them, deal with them, and give them what they deserve.

but this, this is just utterly unbelievably cruel.
when did a mother's agony become so easy to ignore?
As I write this so many forms of injustice delivered by humans to humans come to my mind..all over the world people are being stepped on, starved, left for dead, and so few seem to give a damn.
when did a human being become so cheap?

Had plans of grandiose proportions to go out and party it up, but the people I work with had all prepared food and brought it to school and we had dinner there and drank champagne, and now I'm back home playing a shooting game while drinking some beer, cheers. Irrespective of who is to blame, these atrocities of war haven’t ended yet.
Whether it is bodies of dead people buried next to the minister of defense (a space being used a football field) or faces of people who have vanished from the face of the earth (and into the Syrians prisons), it is insane to what extent we became dull. numb. and yes, dumb.
Seeing their pictures would suggest that they go back to the 70's, but no, they have disappeared in the early 90's.
We know where they are, yet, we stand still. How did we become so senseless? We are good in talking and making speeches, but we need to take action.
...Or are we so dissolved in our own world, that we don’t care about others anymore?

sweety and paul. we did read your post. he reflected exactly the helpless feeling that you get faced with these issues. you feel humiliated. i happen to know a person (family member) who vanished into a syrian prison for a while. i can't forget when he came back. i'll tell you about it one day. what's the point? even if we're not too self-absorbed. take action? please, how? where?

did you know that there are 8 to 18 year old kids in Roumieh prison for years, taking abuse day after day, instead of being in a reformatory center??? they are more than a hundred in number. did u know that the Lebanese government considers Roumieh prison a reformatory center? did u know that many Lebanese feel that these kids "deserve" to be in prison and not a reformatory center?

even in civilized america some people prefer to have kids in prisons instead of a counseling center. it's so sad what we do to each other..

No human being should be treated like that.
