so the problem as we all know, besides the extraordinary leadership qualities of our 'leaders', is that those morons have completely different definitions of the word 'Lebanon'. How can any reasonable solution come out of all this chaos when those people cannot even agree on a unified goal. each party envisions a Lebanon in which the other is crushed down and is devoid of any significant say in the country's fate. and what is sad is that people seem continue to believe in and admire them! I hear that people are getting inspired by Jumblat's and Gaegae's speeches (instant vomit). I mean did you see how pathetic they were in Gemayel's funeral?! give me a break people. as long as this goes on I think it's absurd to hope for any kind of development. please dont fall for their insulting calls for 'a unified lebanon'. I dont see a single one of them truly working for a unified peaceful solution. please correct me if i'm wrong. as long as warlords and sectarianism are in the picture, all we can do is vent, sit back and hope for a miracle.

well said..Jumblat's and Gaegae's make excellent recipes to vomit on :):)
Anyways their stupid ideology benefited more from the killings than did HA... I hope someone finds the real killers, perhaps it would be a big surprise to everyone..
Anyways, as long people accept these stupid people as their leaders there s no hope of any progress..

We can hope, dream, and pray, and maybe, if people like you keep refusing to accept things the way they are, someday enough people will share those dreams that they will be able to make the future what it should be instead of just having to accept that it is the way it shouldn't be.

yes laila, you are right; as long as there are warlords directing the story and common people going along, what can we do? whenever i see one of those mass events, i want to go down into the crowd, face the stage, and loudly bleat: baa, baaaaa, baaaaaaaaaa

I for one do not blame the leaders we have. Don't misunderstand me; I do not care for any of them. However, leaders can only "lead" as long as they have followers. And that's what Lebanon and the whole Middle East is full of: followers. People who cannot or do not want to think for themselves; people who would never "follow" a reasonable person. What they want... what they need, is someone to play on their fears, their anger and their frustration. Reason is seen as weakness... moderation as failure. People get the leaders they deserve, and only when they truly change, will those leaders change with them.

They have some nice pictures on the BBC of these heroic demos.

Not sure why the clown Aoun and his Hizb sidekicks want Siniora to step down though... for another election and then what?

It appears the "South" and the "North" can't agree on a common vision for "Lebanon".

It's time they all acted like adults and split the country in 2.

Since the Hizb have a soft spot for Iran/Syria. They should annex the South to the motherland.

And may they be awarded with 1001 "Divine" victories...

[Lebanon is a curious place... was just reading some days ago about those fanged xenophobic LFs caught with maps detailing an attempt on the life of the Generalissimo....]

Well said.

Joe made an excellent point when he said that people get the leaders they deserve. The reasonable people aren't strong enough or cohesive enough to effect change, while the fanatics are very good at coming together and making life difficult for everyone else.

I've heard such great things about Beirut and all of Lebanon, and I hope that people won't allow these idiots to drag the country back to the Dark Ages. What a nightmare!

So everyone is saying that the leaders are ideots and we do not care for them and some even hate them...

The followers are sheep (baa baa...) and need to change/shake them...

So who is left that is sane, the bloggers :)

How will Lebanon change or will it?

What is wrong with Siniora??? Let us hope "they" (mystery "they") keep him "alive"... I think he is the best "live" leader but does not have enough sheep to support him :)
