I've been trying hard to repress the urge of expressing my utter disgust at the 'situation' back home. actually more specifically at what i am reading on political blogs- sectarian posts, sectarian comments, and most of all sectarian insults.
but i cant anymore. not that anybody cares anyway.
what the fuck is wrong with you people.
who are our leaders now. an impotent president. a bunch of murderers and warlords claiming righteousness and morality. and the right to rule the country.
but this is not what worries me. what worries me is the shocking display of sectarianism among people who are supposedly 'educated' and 'cultured' and who claim that they wish to build a 'prosperous country'- together.
i hate religion.
i hate our constitution.
i hate our filthy leaders.
and i hate to see you fall for this madness.
forget about your sect for just 1 minute and think of the possibilities that we have.
no wait. dont bother. the Lebanon that we want is just an illusion. it will never exist. it never did. it's all in our heads.
and hence the everlasting nostalgia, for a magnificent dream we were told about when we were little.
for a home we'll never have.

too much hate chlo, too much hate :)
is that what they taught you in Greek Orthodox school?
I refuse to believe that our lebanon is only in our heads. If that were the case, where am I supposed to go? visions such as this one do not come out of nothing. We pick their colors from the palette of our tradition, our past, our collective memory. People from all sects fought for this country's independence, they died for it too, and then they lived together in what was (and in some ways, still is) one of the most amazing places on earth. Ask the older folks, ask the non-lebanese who had the chance to visit Lebanon in its golden era. They will tell you that libnen el 7elem wasn't always a 7elem, it was more real than you and me.
After all the shit that we've been through, with all the scumbags holding the reins of our future, it will certainly look like the end of an illusion, and the persistence of a bitter unresolvable reality. But it can't be. The world changes, scumbags will die, and there are young people like us who only care about Lebanon, the concept, the tradition, the land, the people beyond all labels and categories. It might take one, two, five, ten generations, but it will happen. It will chlo. The beasts will return to their holes and our Lebanon will certainly be back to stay for good.
I hope.
Friends..Middle East is fucked up place.. by the time you finish living your life, chance are it will still be fucked up.
To concern yourself about it totally understandable, but to keep surprising yourself with its news just a waste of your energy.
All politics in general sucks and all leaders in the whole world are big liars and robbers. Our beautiful Middle East is the worst of the worst... FACE IT..
Lebanon is a beautiful place no doubt..but guess what, So is Syria (Where I m originally from) and so is Egypt and others, but what to do if people keep fighting there not only against Israel but against each other...
Part of the misery of the middle east is the fact it s been the main place for the three big religions, (Just wrote about religion..check it out) and you know how I love religions.. it is a big believe system, believe in god and die for your country and go to heaven.. all big lies nothing different than politics...
The world is not perfect. Lebanon is far from being perfect. Let's be realistic, look at american politics. it's all lies and deceit.
But you have to start somewhere. and yes, the leaders that we have right now, suck. but you see hope, at least i see hope. i might be blind, i might be wrong, but i refuse to give up, yet, now or ever. I will not go into a debate on hizballa. Certain things are just too obvious.
3am be7lakmak ya 7ilm ya Libnan...
:)))
well said..
just don't fall back to depression and "I don't care" mood.
I can't imagine a good solution . . . but I still hope for one.
I hate religion . . . but I still believe.
I hate politics . . . but I love the people in my country.
I hate it when leaders claim to speak for God . . . but I wish there was a prophet.
I hate the evil that is happening in Lebanon . . . but I love you, and Lebanon because of you.
What shall I say? ... sigh ... Keep hoping? Does it come out right? ... But nothing is guaranteed ... :(
I am getting this linked on my blog cool?
