question for the ladies

to what extent do hormones control your life?

i'm like a slave for my own body.
it's not funny. not funny at all.

(the boys should not hesitate if they think they have constructive comments - and i'm sure they do)

Laila, what I can tell u?? there is nothing u can do about it,if you just surrender;it will be much easier to deal with.
Personnally, beside the mental anguish, hormonal"crazy" days sometimes are a good thing. For example, during those days,I clean house like a nut, throw things that in normal days look precious,(there is 3 huge bags in my car for donation), settle, and win all arguments much faster>:)
look for the positive, try vitamin B12,and have a good day.
Very funny though, remember we are all in this together.

men might have it too!!!

"Scientists may have come up with an explanation for why men become grumpy and irritable.
They can't help it - they are just suffering from "irritable male syndrome".

Men's mood swings may be down to a sudden drop in the male hormone testosterone which, the theory says, affects their brain and therefore behaviour.

Some scientists believe that middle-aged men go through a menopause, as women do.

But Gerald Lincoln of the Medical Research Council's Human Reproductive Sciences Unit in Edinburgh believes stress can cause men of any age to suffer testosterone levels to plummet, affecting their mood and behaviour.
Although very little work has looked at the relationship in humans between stress and testosterone, many studies in animals, including primates, show that testosterone levels fall when stress increases levels of a hormone called corticosteroid.

Dr Lincoln, whose work is featured in New Scientist, first identified irritable male syndrome in Soay sheep.

In autumn, rams' testosterone levels soar and they mate. In the winter, testosterone levels fall and they lose interest in sex."

Give in and surrender it's futile to fight it. During my hormonal swing I will be a little down but it passes. There's worse things than being a slave to hormones. I say let's revel in it. Let's celebrate it...care for a chocolate covered pretzel?

Given that I just spent about a week suddenly breaking out in tears and/or crying (often strictly based on stuff on TV) for absolutely no logical reason, while at the same time bloating up like a whale, I'd have to say yes. Big fat hormonal yes. Hormones definitely take over your life. And no. It's definitely not funny.

I see the boys are too scared to respond, as well they should be. Rule number one is never upset a hormonal female. It can be very hazardous to one's health. :-)

I personally get suicidal, over emotional, depressive, angry...
And yes they used to control my life pretty much, until I started trying not let them to. Let's say I am mad or over emotional, I check the calendar, if it's hormonal related, well I try to control myself, ya3ne I make myself realize in a way to minimize damage as much as I can :P ... I donno, does this help?

HONESTLY! A whopper meal from BK usually makes me a bit better.
